Director: Bela Bhansali Sehgal
Cast: Boman Irani, Farah Khan
Shirin, played by Farah Khan and Farhad by Boman Irani, are the middle aged people who eagerly wait to be bitten by love bug. It is indeed every man’s dream to fall in love with a soul mate. Farhad, 45 years old Parsi bachelor works as the bra and panty salesman never found love in his life. The women in Farhad’s life are his mother and grandmother. In fact the world has actually given up on him but he does not give up hope and searches for his soul mate till the moment he finds Shirin.
The storyline
Farhad at 45 shrinks in front of his dominating mother and so is generally shy. When he meets Shirin, he becomes really comfortable and talks to everyone with all confidence. Shirin is also impressed by good nature and simplicity of Farhad and so the middle aged individuals fall in love with each other. But as case in Hindi movies, parental opposition prevails and threatens to end the romance between the two of them.
The movie is filled with various laugh out loud scenes and moments. One of them is the time when Farah Khan comes to meet Farhad’s family. Also, the humor is consistent all through the movie. Farhad’s antics are interesting and entertaining and more so Boman Irani actually makes his character all the more alive with his amazing gestures and flawless performance.
The plus
But what actually makes this movie the true paisa vasool are various cute and humorous moments between the two actors. Right from the start to kiss and hold hands to doing other things for the first time, the scenes will keep you entertained, happy and excited. Further, the realization of love is greeted with syrupy bedroom dance which is both comical as well as interesting.
Star performances
Farah Khan is okay in the movie and does not perform her best. The film is far better than what it may have been due to the performances of two lead actors and their chemistry. Boman Irani is superb in the film even at such age. You will love him all through the film. Indeed, a myriad of Parsi actors such as Kurush Deboo, Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal and others lend the movie the real joy and vibe.
Songs and music
A few songs in the movie are peppy, mainly the Rumba Mein Sumba by Usha Uthup. Though the tracks are not that impressive, they still offer the light hearted feel.
In all, under 2 hours, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi actually demands little of your brains and offers enough to the audiences. We would suggest that you can watch it for some Parsi fun and cute, funny performance by Boman.
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Movie Rating: 2/5
